In the third quarter of 2016, the seasonally adjusted government deficit to GDP ratio stood at 1.7% in the euro area (EA19), an increase on the second quarter of 2016, when it stood at 1.5%, according to data published by the statistical office of the European Union (Eurostat) on Monday 23 January.
In the EU 28, the government deficit to GDP ratio rose slightly, to 1.9% of GDP compared to 1.8% in the previous quarter.
