The European Parliament (EP) is preparing to vote, in Strasbourg on Wednesday 26 October, for an ambitious draft EU budget for 2017 with €161.8 billion in commitment appropriations, equating to €4.13 billion more than the amounts initially proposed by the European Commission. As for payment appropriations, the MEPs from the EP's committee on budgets set these at €136.8 billion, nearly €2 billion higher than the initial proposal.
