On Wednesday 28 September, the European Commission announced that it is granting Kristalina Georgieva a month’s unpaid leave in October to enable her to campaign for the job of United Nations (UN) secretary general.
During her leave, Georgieva’s work as Budget and Human Resources Commissioner will be temporarily covered by EU Digital Economy Commissioner Günther Oettinger.
