The European Commission announced on Tuesday 27 September that it had completed its proposals on the fishing quotas for 2017 in the waters of the Baltic Sea with significantly reduced catch limits for cod (see EUROPE 11611).
The scientific advice received recommended sharp reductions in catches of cod next year to help stocks recover from their currently very low level.
