Brussels, 15/06/2016 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday 15 June, the European Commission proposed extending until 2020 the financial support granted to two organisations, Finance Watch and Better Finance, which promote the interests of European citizens who use financial products.
The new programme, which is the subject of a specific proposed regulation, has a maximum envelope of €6 million between 2017 and 2020. Over this period, the financial support may be used to finance up to 60% of the activities of the two organisations.
The organisation Finance Watch aims to counter-balance the muscle of the financial lobby in drafting European rules on financial services. It was set up in 2011 by initiative of a former member of the European Parliament, the French Green member Pascal Canfin (see EUROPE 10410).
