04/04/2016 (Agence Europe) - EP approves visa waver systems for Colombia, Kingdom of Tonga and the Republic of Palau. On Wednesday 8 June, the European Parliament approved during its plenary session in Strasbourg, the EU agreements with Colombia, Tonga and the Republic of Palau for short stay visa waivers. These were agreed with large majorities of more than 580 votes in favour during the three votes. This kind of agreement means that the nationals from these countries will be able to travel within the Schengen area without visas for a maximum period of three months. People wishing to work will be excluded from this agreement. The agreement with Colombia was signed in December 2015 and has already applied on a provisional basis. (SP)
