06/06/2016 (Agence Europe) -EUCAP Sahel Mali budget increased. According to a press release, on Monday 6 June the Council of the EU endorsed a decision to increase the budget of EUCAP Sahel Mali mission for strengthening security capacity in the country by almost €5 million, bringing the total budget of the mission for 2016 to €19 million. The EUCAP Sahel Mali civilian mission helps to provide training and strategic advice for the 3 main Malian internal security forces: police, gendarmerie and National Guard. This budget increase has been justified by the need to provide mission staff protection, following the attack against the Radisson hotel in November 2015 and the attack against the headquarters of the EU's second mission in the country (EUTM Mali) in March 2016 in Bamako.
