20/04/2016 (Agence Europe) - New joint French and Spanish PGI. The European Commission has announced that it had approved the request for registering a new product in the Protected Geographical Indications (PGI) register. This will now include the 'Rosée des Pyrénées Catalanes', a French and Spanish veal meat from hardy breeds such as the Brune Pyrenees, Aubrac or Gascony and crossing the mothers of these breeds with males of Charolais, Limousine or Blonde d' Aquitaine breeds. Calves are raised extensively with their mothers throughout their lives. The calf must be born and raised in the Catalan Pyrenees, a territory that covers both Spanish and French municipalities.
