11/03/2016 (Agence Europe) - Hopes of achieving European prosecutor by end of 2016. On Friday 11 March, the EU justice ministers continued their discussions in Brussels on the future European prosecutor, responsible in the long term for hunting down fraud. The ministers focused on the technical sections of financing for the investigations and personnel, especially delegated national prosecutors that should be financed by national budgets. The Dutch Presidency of the Council of the EU and the European Commission believe it is possible to bring this file to a successful end by the end of 2016. The file was presented back in 2012, but there are still large question marks as to the number of member countries that will participate effectively in this European prosecutor. The UK has already stated that it will never take part. (SP)
