25/01/2016 (Agence Europe) - EU calls for new electoral calendar to be set. On Saturday 23 January, High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini took note of the new postponement of the second round of the presidential election in Haiti. She called on all stakeholders to decide on a new electoral calendar swiftly and peacefully, which would enable the electoral process to be brought to an end and ensure constitutional order. The opposition candidate, Jude Celestin - who came second in the first round according to official results that are contested, is running against Jovenel Moïse in this election. Moïse is backed by outgoing president, Michel Martelly, whose term of office expires on 7 February. (MB)
