21/01/2016 (Agence Europe) - EU supports promotion of women in Mediterranean audiovisual content. The representatives of nine audiovisual operators on the southern shore of the Mediterranean have committed to a process of exchanging expertise so as to improve the representation of women on the screen and in programmes. Their decision is the result of meetings at an assessment sessions organised in Amman, Jordan on 13-14 January. The programme is supported by MedMedia, an EU-backed project in liaison with the Permanent Conference of the Mediterranean Audiovisual Operators (COPEAM). The decision is part of a strategy for strengthening gender equality policies in the media. The strategy combines consultations, networking activities and joint exchanges, those who instigate it say.
