12/01/2016 (Agence Europe) - Nearly 19,000 migrants arrive in the EU in 11 days. Some 18,872 people have reached the coasts of Europe in the first 11 days of 2016, the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) said on Tuesday 12 January. An average of around 1,700 per day arrived during that period. The IOM also said that there have already been deaths between Libya and Italy, a route which claimed the lives of close to 3,000 migrants in 2015, it notes. (SP)
