04/01/2016 (Agence Europe) - EU welcomes relaunch of inter-Burundian dialogue. Following the unprecedented escalation in violence in Burundi, the inter-Burundian dialogue that the EU had been calling for was launched in Entebbe under Ugandan mediation, much to the satisfaction of the EU (see EUROPE 11453). In a press release published on 28 December, the day this dialogue was relaunched, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini, welcomed this development as a “key step for bringing together all the different components from society in Burundi, as well as the country's political forces”. The EU praised the personal commitment made by President Yoweri Museveni of Uganda, which has helped create a positive momentum for this progress to be made and emphasised that “Only a political solution can bring an end to the violence”.
