08/12/2015 (Agence Europe) - €400 million EIB loan in support of energy efficiency in buildings in France. On Monday 7 December in Paris during the COP21 summit, attended by Ségolène Royal, the French minister for the environment, the European Investment Bank (EIB) confirmed that it would provide €400 million in financing, in partnership with the banks BPCE, Banque Postale and Crédit Agricole SA, towards the “public building energy optimisation project” in France. This financing is part of the law on energy transition for green growth and will help towards the construction and rehabilitation of public buildings in France and reduce their energy consumption whilst optimising their energy performance. It will also be used to construct new energy model buildings. As from January 2016, throughout France, this investment is expected to have a positive impact on employment, whilst reducing these buildings' operating costs, explained the EIB. (EH)
