03/11/2015 (Agence Europe) - China backs binding, verifiable climate agreement. Chinese President Xi Jinping has given his backing to a legally binding climate agreement with a mechanism for five-yearly revision of national commitments. He made these comments after a meeting in Beijing on Monday 2 November with French President François Hollande, whose country will host the UN COP 21 climate conference beginning at the end of November. China and France also underlined the importance of mobilising €100 billion per year until 2020 to help developing countries adjust to climate change. (MB)
