26/10/2015 (Agence Europe) - GUE/NGL want to strengthen anti-TTIP network. At the end of the meeting with members of the 60 local, regional and national parliaments in Europe, which it had organised on Friday 23 October in Brussels, the far left group at the European Parliament, stated: “More than 1,000 municipalities across the European Union have already declared themselves TTIP-free zones”. The aim of the meeting was to: strengthen their network against the Trance Atlantic Trade and Investment Partnership Agreement (TTIP), the Canada/EU Trade Agreement (CETA) and the Trade in Services Agreement (TiSA). The parliamentarians were informed about the state of play of the ongoing negotiations by GUE/NGL Shadow Rapporteurs on TTIP and CETA, Helmut Scholz and Anne-Marie Mineur, and were provided with an in-depth analysis of the agreements by Third World Network lawyer and activist, Sanya Reid Smith. In a session chaired by MEP, Lola Sanchez Caldentey, the representatives shared information about what is going on in the campaigns against TTIP in the member states and regions. (EH)
