05/10/2015 (Agence Europe) - Nearly one European in ten lives in a town. On Monday 5 October, World Habitat Day, Eurostat published the latest sociological data on the European Union population in 2014. These show that nearly 40% of Europeans were living in so-called high-density population areas (in other words, in towns), 28% were living in low-density areas, and 32% were living in intermediate areas (in other words, less populated towns and suburbs). The UK has the most urban population (58.6%), followed by Cyprus (54.7%), while Luxembourg has the highest number of people living in rural areas (51%), followed by Slovenia (49.8%) and Lithuania (47.6%).
