04/09/2015 (Agence Europe) - Future of tourism in Europe. On Thursday 3 September, the European Parliament's internal market and consumer protection (IMCO) committee adopted an opinion on the transport and tourism (TRAN) committee report - “New challenges and concepts for the promotion of tourism in Europe”. The MEPs call for the European tourist model to integrate the potential offered by the emergence of a middle class in certain third countries, especially the BRICs. The MEPs would like an EU online application to be created that would enable European travel maps to be consulted, thus improving the quantity and quality of information available. In addition, the MEPs call for better collaboration between the EU member states, and for implementation of the neZEH initiative to be accelerated - an initiative that promotes nearly zero energy hotels.
