31/08/2015 (Agence Europe) - London opens consultation on public procurement. On Friday 21 August, the British government launched a widespread public consultation with a view to implementing the European Union directives on public procurement. On 26 February 2014, after two years of intense discussions, the European Parliament and Council adopted three new directives (2014/25/EU, 2014/24/EU, 2014/23/EU) which were published in the Official Journal of the EU on 28 March the same year. London transposed Directive 2014/24/EU last year as part of its 2015 Public Contracts Regulations. The consultation will focus on Directive 2014/25/EU on public procurement in the water, energy, transport and postal services sectors, and will close on 18 September. The member states have until 18 April 2016 to transpose the European legislation into their own national legislation. (PH)
