Brussels, 11/05/2015 (Agence Europe) - The EU is giving aid of €43 million (approximately 465 dirhams) for the development of solar energy production. The EU representation in Rabat states that this is a contribution to financing the NOOR III electricity production complex (which has a production capacity of around 150 MW).
The financing agreement was signed on Thursday 7 May during the visit of European Commissioner for Climate Action and Energy Miguel Arias Canete.
NOOR III is part of a Moroccan comprehensive solar programme aiming to develop 2,000 MW by 2020.
Moroccan news agency MAP states that the European aid “is the third financing package after that of the first phase of achieving the Ouarzazate NOOR I complex with over 330 million dirhams, and that of achieving the NOOR II complex with financing of over 440 million dirhams”. (Fathi B'Chir)
