Progress at new dialogue meeting

Brussels, 22/04/2015 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday 22 April, Serbia's new Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic announced that progress had been made with his Kosovan counterpart, Isa Mustafa, at the previous day's dialogue meeting in Brussels on normalising relations between Serbia and Kosovo. The meeting lasted four hours.

“The negotiations were difficult, but some progress was made in the areas of telecommunications, civil protection and energy”, a Serbian government press release stated. In the press release from High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini, it was stated that the two parties exchanged their views on the “main outstanding implementation issues: energy, telecoms, and the establishment of the Association/Community” of Serbian communities. “In this regard, they agreed on concrete steps to be taken in the period until the next meeting of the dialogue”, Mogherini stated - without giving the date for this future meeting. According to Vucic, the next meeting will take place in May.

The two prime ministers also reviewed progress made in implementing the agreements concluded in the dialogue - particularly the implementation of the agreement on justice, and the start of implementation for civil protection arrangements. (Camille-Cerise Gessant)
