SECTORAL POLICIES / (ae) transport

08/04/2015 (Agence Europe) - Review of the White Paper: the five priorities of CLECAT. The European Voice of Freight Logistics and Customs Services (known by its French acronym, CLECAT) has reiterated its position on the White Paper on transport, following the publication of the draft report on its mid-term review (see EUROPE 11289). The body is calling for strong emphasis to be laid on five priorities: the completion of the single market, internationalisation, digitalisation, innovation and better connectivity through sound infrastructure investments. “European transport policy should aim to establish a system that underpins economic progress, enhances the competitiveness of the European economy and (…) economic mobility”, CLECAT concludes. It also criticises the application of the German minimum wage for drivers in transit, which it describes as a “move towards protectionism”. (JC)
