Brussels, 03/03/2015 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday 3 March, the Competitiveness Council held an orientation debate on ways of stimulating innovation through open, networked and data intensive research.
Ministers shared their vision about the way Europe could support and speed up its transition to a “data driven economy” within the context of the digital agenda for Europe. The Council has selected two areas where open, networked and data intensive research can help stimulate innovation: the pan-European e-infrastructures and policies and frameworks for better use of big data and cloud computing.
Marite Seile, the Latvian minister for education and science, explained, “I strongly believe that putting information and communication technologies at the service of society and businesses can only be achieved through faster and wider innovation. The capacity for innovation very much depends on quality and quantity of investments and knowledge transfer between the public and private sector”. (Isabelle Lamberty)
