Brussels, 12/02/2015 (Agence Europe) - European Commission Vice-President for Energy Union Maros Sefcovic welcomed the “strong political support” from the stakeholder countries in the Southern Gas Corridor project (Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey, Albania, Greece, Italy and Bulgaria) during the first Consultative Council on the project, in Baku on Thursday 12 February.
“Concluding Southern Gas Corridor meeting with signature of ministers' joint statement. Strong political signal for EU”, Sefcovic tweeted at the end of the meeting. During the ministerial debates, Sefcovic stressed the need to respect the deadlines for building the project “so that gas can flow to Europe by 2020”, he added on Twitter. EUROPE will return to this.
