On Monday 2 December, the economic and monetary affairs committee of the European Parliament approved the appointment of Finland's Martti Hetemäki as chair of the European Statistical Governance Advisory Board (ESGAB), following a hearing. Since June 2013, Hetemäki has been the permanent under-secretary to the Finnish finance ministry. (MB)
