Brussels, 01/12/2014 (Agence Europe) - Latvia's Prime Minister Laimdota Straujuma and members of the Latvian government will visit the European Commission on Wednesday 3 December. During the plenary meeting of the college of commissioners and the working lunch that follows it, Commission members and the Latvian ministers will have the opportunity to discuss Latvia's upcoming Presidency of the Council of the EU, the key priorities of the Commission work programme 2015, the investment plan for Europe, economic, financial and social matters, and foreign policy issues. The joint working session will be followed by a bilateral meeting between European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker and Straujuma.
European Parliament President Martin Schulz and the Parliament's political group leaders will visit Latvia on Wednesday 3 and Thursday 4 December. They will hold meetings with cabinet ministers in Riga and will meet Latvia's President Andris Berzins, as well as members of the national parliament (Saeima).
The following Presidencies of the Council of Ministers will be Luxembourg (July-December 2015), the Netherlands (January-June 2016) and Slovakia (July-December 2016). (LC)
