Brussels, 17/10/2014 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday 16 October, new European Parliament delegations with third countries elected their leaders.
Monica Macovei (EPP, Romania) was elected as leader of the delegation for relations with Albania. Sajjad Karim (ECR, UK) takes the leadership of the delegation to the EU-Armenia, EU-Azerbaijan and EU-Georgia parliamentary cooperation committees, and Andi Cristea (S&D, Romania) takes the leadership of the delegation to the EU-Moldova parliamentary cooperation committee. Fulvio Martusciello (EPP, Italy) and David McAllister (EPP, Germany) take the leadership of the delegations for relations with Israel and with the US respectively.
The new leader of the delegation for relations with Iran is Janusz Lewandowski (EPP, Poland). Petras Austrevicius (ALDE, Lithuania) was elected as head of the delegation for relations with Afghanistan, and Iveta Grigule from Latvia was elected as head of delegation for Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Mongolia.
Werner Langen (EPP, Germany) and Jo Leinen (S&D, Germany) will take the leadership of the delegations for relations with South East Asia and the ASEAN respectively, while Nirj Deva (ECR, UK) and Geoffrey Van Orden (ECR, UK) become heads of the delegations for relations with the Korean Peninsula and India respectively.
Sofia Sakorafa (GUE, Greece) takes the leadership of the delegation for relations with Central America. Boleslaw Piecha (ECR, Poland) becomes leader of the delegation to the EU-Cariforum parliamentary committee. (CG)
