Brussels, 26/08/2014 (Agence Europe) - On Monday 25 August, the Slovenian parliament backed law professor Miro Cerar as the country's new prime minister by 57 votes to 11. He now has a fortnight to form a coalition government.
“We will work towards establishing a stable banking and financial system that will support the development and restructuring of the economy, which will improve competitiveness and enable the creation of new jobs”, Cerar told MPs. He added that the government would be closely monitoring public spending and may introduce “strategically considered privatisation”. His Centre-Left party, the SMC, is expected to form an alliance with the Desus party and the Social Democrats. (EL)
