Brussels, 21/08/2014 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday 20 August, the European Banking Authority (EBA) published the templates it will use to publish the results of the stress tests to which all banks in the European Union will be subjected.
The templates, which will contain up to 12,000 data points per bank, will ensure that the data are comparable between financial institutions, thereby improving the transparency of the state of health of the banking sector in Europe, the European authority stressed in a press release.
“Stress tests” are soon to be carried out on the basis of the balance sheet of all EU banks, which were submitted at the end of 2013. They will be based, amongst other things, on the results of the asset quality review currently under way of the balance sheets of the 130 banking groups of systemic importance, which will be directly supervised by the ECB in the framework of banking union from November of this year (see EUROPE 11136).
