20/08/2014 (Agence Europe) - Pressure for aid to Slovenian company Elan to be paid back. The European Commission has written to the Slovenian authorities asking them immediately to recover state aid of €10 million - plus interest - which was granted in 2008 to the leisure equipment manufacturer Elan (see EUROPE 10692). The company must be privatised in order for the money to be recovered; but if this is not feasible, it will have to be “liquidated”, said a Commission spokesperson. He stressed the urgent nature of the case, as the deadline initially laid down for the money to be repaid was exceeded 20 months ago. (MB)
