29/07/2014 (Agence Europe) - Prolongation of Polish aid scheme for banks. On Tuesday 28 July, the European Commission gave the go-ahead to the prolongation of the Polish bank guarantee scheme until 31 December 2014. The scheme covers guarantees and other liquidity support measures for different types of solvent credit institutions in Poland. It was initially approved in September 2009 and then adjusted to bring it in line with the requirements of the Commission's 2011 communication on state aid to banks during the crisis. The Commission finds the prolongation of the scheme to be in line with its guidance because it is targeted, proportionate and limited in time and scale. (EL)
