Former Finnish prime minster, Jyrki Katainen, who resigned on Tuesday 17 June, has been appointed as acting European commissioner and will replace Olli Rehn on 1 July until 31 October, the Finnish Representation to the EU stated on Twitter. On 27 May, Rehn said he wanted to take up his post as an MEP at the European Parliament. (SP)
