On Tuesday 29 April, the European Commission cleared the proposed acquisition of the insurance company MetLife Assurance Limited by rival Rothesay Life Limited, both of the United Kingdom. The Commission concluded that the transaction notified on 21 March 2014 would not raise any competition concerns because the merged entity will continue to face strong competition after the merger.
