Dublin, 07/03/2014 (Agence Europe) - At its two-day congress in Dublin, the EPP re-elected Joseph Daul (of France) by a wide majority (512 to 44) to head the party. He was first elected to the post in the autumn, to replace the late Wilfried Martens. On Thursday 6 March, the congress adopted an election action plan for 2014-2019 with a series of objectives - a simpler, more democratic Europe focusing on the big issues, economic reforms for growth and jobs, competitiveness, rejection of greater public spending, boosting the eurozone, keeping Europe open but with criteria to be met when granting non-EU countries financial aid - criteria like clamping down on illegal immigration and asylum, and tackling abuse.
