06/03/2014 (Agence Europe) - Cypriot businesspeople support reunification. On 5 March, the head of the Chamber of Commerce of Cyprus, Phidias K Pilides, and the head of the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Commerce, Günay Cerkez, underlined their support for the resumption of negotiations on the reunification of Cyprus. An “overall solution to the Cypriot issue will bring considerable advantages to all the sectors of the economy and, as a result, will improve the welfare and prosperity of all Cypriots”, they sated. Pilides and Cerkez reiterated their commitment to contributing to the process and said they are ready to support the political efforts. The Chambers can particularly contribute to the creation of a positive atmosphere and to the efforts of implementing confidence-building measures as these are areas on which the two Chambers have been working for several years now, Pilides and Cerkez said in a joint statement.
