09/12/2013 (Agence Europe) - Dijsselbloem keeps the pressure up on Athens. On arrival at the Eurogroup meeting in Monday 9 December, the head of the Eurogroup, Jeroen Dijsselbloem, described as “healthy” the Greek prime minister's attitude on Sunday, when he told the Greek parliament that the 2014 budget adopted that day was the first step towards exiting the structural adjustment programme. Prime Minister Samaras said: “We all want to be released from the bailout programme and this budget marks the first step. We are on the road to securing our national independence”. Dijsselbloem said it was a “healthy attitude for any country to have the ambition to leave the program asap. Hopefully there is some progress to share with us, I'd like to finish it before the end of the year”. The Commission announced on Monday that the troika would not return to Athens until January, preceded by a team of experts later this week. The Eurogroup's approval is required before disbursement of a sub-instalment of aid of €1 billion. (EL/transl.fl)
