Brussels, 25/10/2013 (Agence Europe) - Three new judges were sworn in at the European Court of Justice on Wednesday 23 October. Maciej Szpunar of Poland has been appointed permanent advocate general at the European Court of Justice from 16 October 2013 to 6 October 2018; Kullike Jürimäe of Estonia, formerly a judge at the European General Court, has been appointed as a judge at the European Court of Justice from 6 October 2013 to 6 October 2015 following the resignation of Uno Löhmus; Lauri Madise of Estonia has been appointed as a judge at the General Court from 6 October 2013 to 31 August 3016. Irena Pekinanova of the Czech Republic has had her term of office as judge at the General Court extended until 31 August 2019. As requested by the Court of Justice, the number of advocates general increased from six to nine on 1 July 2013 and will rise to eleven on 7 October 2015. (FG/transl.fl)
