Brussels, 24/10/2013 (Agence Europe) - Making no comment to the press, the most senior member of the European heads of government, Luxembourg Prime Minister Jean-Claude Juncker, arrived at the European Council on Thursday 24 October, for what could be his very last summit in that capacity. In Luxembourg, Georges Ravani's information mission ended the same day and the Grand Duke announced he had summoned Xavier Bettel, the leader of the Liberals (DP), on Friday afternoon. The Luxembourg press reports that, during that meeting, the Grand Duke will probably nominate Bettel to form the next government. On Wednesday evening, the presidents of the Socialists (LSAP), the DP and the Greens announced they had given their go-ahead to a tripartite coalition that will de facto relegate Juncker's party to the opposition. CSV President Michel Woltger denied, moreover, allegations that the party is ready to sacrifice Juncker in order to remain in power. (EL/transl.jl)
