Brussels, 02/10/2013 (Agence Europe) - The United Nations high level dialogue on international migration and development will take place in New York on 3-4 October. For the second time ever, policy makers and practitioners from around the world will be invited to reflect on a bolder approach to migration and development. European Commissioner for Home Affairs Cecilia Malmström will represent the European Union. New UN data show that the number of international migrants has grown from 175 million in 2000 to 232 million today. According to projections, this number is due to reach 400 million by 2040. Europe remains the most popular destination - with 72 million international migrants residing in Europe in 2013. (LC/transl.fl)
