Brussels, 27/09/2013 (Agence Europe) - On 26 September, High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton and Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy Stefan Füle, accompanied by Lithuania's Minister for Foreign Affairs Linas Linkevicius, met the foreign affairs ministers of the Eastern Partnership in order to step up their contact two months away from the summit in Vilnius on 28-29 November. According to their press release, Ashton and Füle “reassured their partners about the inclusivity of the Eastern Partnership, taking into account their commitment to shared values and necessary reforms”. While Moldova and Georgia are due to initial their association agreements during the summit, and while Ukraine could sign its agreement, the EU representatives also underlined their resolve to find the means to strengthen cooperation with Armenia, Azerbaijan and Belarus. Stating that cooperation in the partnership can be beneficial for regional cooperation and the neighbours of the partner countries, Ashton and Füle reiterated once again that it is unacceptable to exert pressure on the countries that are ready to sign an association agreement with the EU.
