27/09/2013 (Agence Europe) - Moment of truth on flight time limitations. Will the European Parliament transport committee dare on Monday 30 September to reject the revision, to be decided under comitology, of flight time limitations? The committee will only have the options of acceptance or rejection of the Commission proposal - no amendments can be brought. This proposal has come in for criticism particularly from pilots, warning of the dangers of fatigue. A Greens/EFA resolution at this stage recommends rejection on the grounds that the revision would endanger air safety. The spokesperson for Commissioner Siim Kallas said on Friday 27 September that the Commission's over-riding priority is safety and that any impression being given that the proposals on the table would weaken the rules in place is false and irresponsible.
