26/06/2013 (Agence Europe) - 32nd EU-China dialogue on human rights. In Guiyang on 25 June, the European Union and China held their 32nd dialogue on human rights. While Europe expressed its concern about ethnic and religious rights, the deprivation of freedom, criminal and administrative punishments, and the measures taken by China to ratify the international pact on civil and political rights, China focused on the treatment of minorities in Europe and on specific incidents involving Chinese nationals in some member states. China wanted to know about the repercussions of the financial crisis on social and economic rights, and about the exacerbation of xenophobia in Europe. The two parties discussed their cooperation within international human rights fora and the situation in Burma/Myanmar, North Korea and Syria. (CG/transl.fl)
