New Dacic and Thaçi meeting on Thursday 20 June

Brussels, 18/06/2013 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday 20 June, High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton will meet the prime ministers of Serbia, Ivica Dacic, and Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, in Brussels.

“They will discuss progress in the implementation of the April agreement based on the plan that the two sides adopted last month”, Ashton's spokesperson stated in a press release on Monday 17 June (see EUROPE 10851). According to a European source, Dacic and Thaçi will discuss issues of energy and telecommunications. These are issues being addressed by the working groups and according to the 19 April agreement they were due to be the subject of an agreement before 15 June.

Elsewhere, the European Commission welcomes the deployment of liaison officers in Belgrade and Pristina on 17 June. “This is another concrete achievement in the context of implementation and an important step towards normalisation of relations”, said Ashton's spokesperson. The Serbian liaison officer, Dejan Pavicevic, and the Kosovan liaison officer, Lulzim Peci, have the task of facilitating communication and monitoring the application of the agreements concluded in various domains, under the aegis of the EU. They are based in the EU's diplomatic missions to Pristina and Belgrade. (CG/transl.fl)
