Brussels, 08/05/2013 (Agence Europe) - Despite opposition from banks, the European Commission unveiled a draft directive on Wednesday 8 May to ensure that any adult legally registered in Europe is able to open a bank account (see EUROPE 10841). It also wants to make it easier for people to shift accounts from one bank to another and have greater transparency about bank charges, hoping that the new rules will cut the costs.
