Brussels, 28/02/2013 (Agence Europe) - Creating a common base for the protection of European workers, providing a European response to restructuring, and reforming the governance of social Europe - those are the main proposals set out in a non-paper, the main thrust for which came from Paris and Berlin, published in Brussels on 28 February.
The document, which was presented ata press conference with labour ministers - Michel Sapin of France, Nicolas Schmit of Luxembourg and Rudolf Hundstorfer of Austria- is along the lines of the reflection process on the social dimension of the project for an Economic and Monetary Union (EMU). It was forwarded to the European Commission, to European Council President Herman Van Rompuy and to the EPSCO Council, and invites all players to seek, in common, to “reinitiate the project of a social Europe”.
