01/02/2013 (Agence Europe) - Latvian parliament gives go-ahead for joining the euro. On Thursday 31 January 2013, the Latvian government under Valdis Dombrovskis said it is preparing for the country to join the euro on 1 January 2014. The European Commission and ECB will respond to this in the summer. Polls suggest two-thirds of Latvians are unenthusiastic about the idea of becoming the 18th member of the eurozone. (MB/transl.fl)
