Brussels, 23/01/2013 (Agence Europe) - The farmers' confederation is taking legal proceedings against an EU agreement with Morocco. According to a leader from this French agricultural union, André Bouchut, this agreement allows “untaxed fruit and vegetables to be exported”. It is in the context of a complaint lodged against the French company, Idyl, which produces fruit and vegetables in Morocco and imports them into the EU, that the agricultural union intends to take action, citing a situation that gives rise to “unfair competition”. The precise point focuses on products coming from an internationally contested territory, the Western Sahara. The union says that “the EU is not respecting the law” and it is, therefore, seeking to highlight the “legal shortcomings” of this agreement. (FB/transl.fl)
