Visa Europe performs well in 2012. - Visa Europe card transactions increased by 8% in Europe last year, amounting to €1,300 billion. These figures mean that the Visa Europe (turnover of €1.1 billion on 30 September 2012, a 10.8% annual increase) now controls 15% of the payments market in Europe. The group's financial robustness has, therefore, been consolidated and its capital and reserves increased by 32.8% over 12 months to €980 million at the end of September. Visa Europe CEO, Philippe Menier, stated that “our €1.3 billion target has now certainly been reached”. The Visa group, therefore, now has the necessary room for manœuvre to invest the €300 million for developing its electronic “V.me” portfolio, which will replace its material portfolio when making long-distance purchases or purchases via mobile phone.
