Commission takes gently gently approach to tackling tax evasion

Brussels, 14/01/2013 (Agence Europe) - One of the tax objectives for the European Commision this year is to clamp down on tax evasion, including tax evasion by multinationals that shift money around and use tax havens to avoid paying tax. EU Taxation Commissioner Algirdas Semeta addressed the European Parliament on this issue on 10 January 2013, at the opening of the Irish Presidency of the EU, which will continue until 30 June.
