Brussels, 11/06/2012 (Agence Europe) - The new directive on waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE), which will replace Directive 2002/96/EC that has been in force since 2003, has been adopted. In Brussels on Friday 9 June, the Council of the EU carried out its formal adoption, without debate. The compromise reached in trialogue in January of this year (see EUROPE 10536) paved the way for this step forward.
